Lady in Leather

(pants, sweater, thermal, hat~ Free People; boots~Vagabond

The weather has finally dipped below 70 degrees here in Los Angeles...thank goodness. I can only wear denim cut offs for so long. It is a nice change of pace being able to comfortably wear leather pants and sweaters without sweating in the hot California sun.

Stormy Hues

This week was a hectic one filled with stress, uncertainty and lots of worrying. Of course it is Sunday and the start of a whole new week and potentially a whole new life. I just finalized my move back to New York City and secured an apartment on the Upper West Side with some friends. All the stress has lifted and now I can focus on what is really important...how I will decorate my room in the apartment.

Recently, I have been drawn to grey tones and accents of teal. Imagine a stormy sea on a gloomy day somewhere far from land. I want to incorporate shades of grey, stormy blues and black accents in my new room without being too dark and overbearing. This will propose a challenge, and I am very much up for it. Above are some inspirational pictures all via Pinterest that I will be looking towards as I pick out the final decor for my New York apartment.

Down the Coast

A few weeks ago my mom and I road tripped to San Diego to explore the beaches for my 21st birthday. We started off the journey in the Gaslamp District of Downtown San Diego. The following day we made our way to the beautiful island of Coronado. Our last stop was La Jolla where we watched seals swim and climbed the beachside cliffs. I love to explore new areas, and now I can cross San Diego off my list.

Pattern Play

dress:Forever 21, poncho, hat:Free People, boots:Steve Madden

This poncho...or cape...or whatever is one of my new favorite pieces Free People as thrown our way for Fall. The colors, patterns, and fabric makes for the perfect autumn wardrobe staple. I've been messing around and experimenting with mixing different patterns this season. I was skeptical at first of the striped dress with this bohemian piece, but hey it works!

Check

(dress, poncho, hat: Free People, boots: Vagabond

Its good to be home where I finally have someone to take blog pictures for me. Today was the perfect fall day breezy, in the sixties, and sunny. My friend Corie just invested in an awesome camera which we  had to test out in a field near her house. I was excited to see Free People bringing back the full on plaid/grunge trend so I decided to do my own bohemian take on it.

Effortlessly Cool: Fall Shopping

(images via Pinterest)

This week I have been particularly inspired by the "effortlessly cool" look. That look that evolves from a wardrobe filled with the best basics and staple pieces. For fall I have been trying to stay away from "trendy" clothing and instead invest in some timeless basics that will carry me from season to season. I remember when fall shopping consisted of heading to Forever21 and buying in bulk as many trendy pieces as possible. Now here is a list of some of my new fall buys for 2013:

The Week in Photos

New display at the Sherman Oaks Bloomingdales
 Morning sunrise in Santa Monica

Living in my One Teaspoon Baggies

This past week has been filled with adventure. My normal routine of school...showroom...homework was altered when the opportunity arose to assist with the visual displays for Free People Shops. The shops we worked on were located at Bloomingdales Santa Monica & Sherman Oaks. I spent hours fluffing flowers and hanging new merchandise. It was exciting to see the shops transition from one concept to the next and even more exciting to be a part of the process. These are just some photos I snapped throughout the week. Hats for Daze

I am a hat enthusiast no doubt. When I saw this beauty in Free People's August catalogue I did not even think twice about ordering it. It adds the perfect touch of South Western vibes pulling together any outfit. Fall is just around the corner and lucky for me this hat was just released in a burnt orange color. Scooooore.

WWD Magic Photo Diary

 The LA Showroom team!

Last week I had to opportunity to make the trip with the Free People wholesale team to work at WWD Magic Market Week. It was a great experience to say the least. The beautiful visual displays and upbeat atmosphere in our booth really reflected the Free People lifestyle. It was exciting to see everyone come together from all parts of the country to make this a successful year at Magic. I am so thankful to have learned so much from so many talented people. Hopefully one day I will achieve my dream of working at Home Office back on the East Coast!
